How do Atheists explain an angel that both my brother and I saw together at the same time? This is a true story. I promise. When my brother and I were children, we were playing in the living room. He was about 9 and I was about 7. My brother pointed out behind me and said "WHO'S THAT!" I turned and there was a man standing there almost as tall as the ceiling (8 ft ceilings). This "man" leaned his head back, opened his mouth and a flame came off his tounge. He walked about 4 feet over and lit a candle in front of some Eastern Orthodox Icons my parents had. WE WENT SCREAMING to my parents room. To this date, I'm not 32 and him 34 we talk about it frequently. It was absolutely real. We both remember it CLEARLY and detailed. My parents remembered us being scared out of our minds. We both believe to this date what we saw was indeed an angel. Not glowing, not super spectacular. But it looked like a HUGE man until fire came out of his mouth. I promise I'm not making this up. I'd probably be an Atheist today if this didn't happen. But that's what we think as our opinion. My parents ALSO said, they did NOT have the candle burning. When my dad came to investigate with a golf club, he saw the candle was lit. Doors were locked no sign of intrusion. Both my parents remember how freaked we were.

Why didn't the press spend more time on Farrah Fawcett's death, she was a real american icon? She was the original Charlie's angel and when I was younger, oh what a angel she was to me. Anyone else believe music is a dying art? This isn't aimed at all music there's still a good amount of genuine bands. Thing is whats pissing me of is music seems to have changed dramatically over the last 10 or so years. The music industry has always been a major opening for advertisements i.e.pop icons, rock stars etc. BUT it seems more like that now than ever. Its like all I ever see is a grup of guys or a girl in there early 20s or late teens you can tell by the way they dress the way they act and the way they look that these people WEREN'T social recluses or outcasts now I know that you don't have to have a totally shit life to have something to sing about but with one look you can tell these guys (and girls) don't have much to express compared to a large selection of people. SO why are they famous if they haven't got a really terrible and emotional life story. Well they were popular with people, funny, GOOD LOOKING (a major one in the industry) and those alone are all they need to get in the music business. Oh and a very basic knowledge of music. Now i'll be honest I'm not a social recluse thats jealous or anything I just miss the days when you would see someone messy or unusual get up on stage and blast out passion and emotion and you know that this guy (or girl) has had it hard and has something to say its that kind of power, emotion and passion that I miss seing, that loner at the back of the class getting up there and showing people something that you wouldn't expect it makes it ten times better, as opposed to some cheesy boy band thats been accepted into the music industry and skilled up by someone to perfect there sound (since it lacks the passion and emotion of real music everything has to be perfect) On that not my view on real music is it doesn't have to be perfect vocals don't have to be performed by an angel and the guitar doesn't need to be a flashy one worthy of satans brilliant guitar skills. It seems people are obsessed with perfection in music now I think because people have forgotten its about passion and desperately try to copy the perfect image of a rockstar the media has painted for them. If its real music with passion it doesn't need to be perfect that's the beauty of music. Overall my point is whats seems to be getting worse is how people are lulled into the trap the media built where instead of appreciating music they look at the person playing what there wearing how they look and decide "I want to look like that" so they buy clothes based on that image and fashion mags hosting that image. Its not about the music anymore its about whats advertised with the so called "music". The music industry is rapidly turning into and another advertisement.

Sure enough, I saw her pretty brunette head bob up a few times, and so I pushed my way through the crowd towards her. Before I could reach her, though, I was stopped by Alan Tennwick, that geek. 'Oi, Lu-babes,' Tennwick leered, a lustful glint in his eye. 'Johnson said he fancies having a slap at your peachy ass.' Disgusted, I flipped Tennwick the finger and worked my way through the mass of students to Angel, who was waiting on the other side. I noticed she had rolled up her regulation black pleated school skirt twice, that she had applied wine red lipgloss and dark brown mascara, and that she was beaming from ear to ear. I said happily, 'Hey hun, what's got you up dressed so nice? Want to impress a guy on the way home so you can ditch me?' I teased her and her face flushed slightly. For various reasons, many people have come to believe that Muslims worship a different God than Christians and Jews. This is totally false, since "Allah" is simply the Arabic word for "God" - and there is only One God. Let there be no doubt - Muslims worship the God of Noah, Abraham, Moses, David and Jesus - peace be upon them all. However, it is certainly true that Jews, Christians and Muslims all have different concepts of Almighty God. For example, Muslims - like Jews - reject the Christian beliefs of the Trinity and the Divine Incarnation. This, however, doesn't mean that each of these three religions worships a different God - because, as we have already said, there is only One True God. Judaism, Christianity and Islam all claim to be "Abrahamic Faiths", and all of them are also classified as "monotheistic". However, Islam teaches that other religions have, in one way or another, distorted and nullified a pure and proper belief in Almighty God by neglecting His true teachings and mixing them with man-made ideas. First of all, it is important to note that "Allah" is the same word that Arabic-speaking Christians and Jews use for God. If you pick up an Arabic Bible, you will see the word "Allah" being used where "God" is used in English. This is because "Allah" is the only word in the Arabic language equivalent to the English word "God" with a capital "G". Additionally, the word "Allah" cannot be made plural or given gender (i.e. masculine or feminine), which goes hand-in-hand with the Islamic concept of God. Because of this, and also because the Qur'an, which is the holy scripture of Muslims, was revealed in the Arabic language, some Muslims use the word "Allah" for "God", even when they are speaking other languages. This is not unique to the word "Allah", since many Muslims tend to use Arabic words when discussing Islamic issues, regardless of the language which they speak. This is because the universal teachings of Islam - even though they have been translated in every major language - have been preserved in the Arabic language. It is interesting to note that the Aramaic word "El", which is the word for God in the language that Jesus spoke, is certainly more similar in sound to the word "Allah" than the English word "God". This also holds true for the various Hebrew words for God, which are "El" and "Elah", and the plural form "Elohim". The reason for these similarities is that Aramaic, Hebrew and Arabic are all Semitic languages with common origins. It should also be noted that in translating the Bible into English, the Hebrew word "El" is translated variously as "God", "god" and "angel"! This imprecise language allows different translators, based on their preconceived notions, to translate the word to fit their own views. The Arabic word "Allah" presents no such difficulty or ambiguity, since it is only used for Almighty God alone. Additionally, in English, the only difference between "god", meaning a false god, and "God", meaning the One True God, is the capital "G". In the Arabic alphabet, since it does not have capital letters, the word for God (i.e. Allah) is formed by adding the equivalent to the English word "the" (Al-) to the Arabic word for "god/God" (ilah). So the Arabic word "Allah" literally it means "The God" - the "Al-" in Arabic basically serving the same function as the capital "G" in English. Due to the above mentioned facts, a more accurate translation of the word "Allah" into English might be "The One -and-Only God" or "The One True God". More importantly, it should also be noted that the Arabic word "Allah" contains a deep religious message due to its root meaning and origin. This is because it stems from the Arabic verb ta'allaha (or alaha), which means "to be worshipped". Thus in Arabic, the word "Allah" means "The One who deserves all worship". This, in a nutshell, is the Pure Monotheistic message of Islam. You see, according to Islam, "monotheism" is much more than simply believing in the existence of "only One God" - as seemingly opposed to two, three or more. If one understands the root meaning of the word "Allah", this point should become clear. One should understand that Islam's criticism of the other religions that claim to be "monotheistic" is not because they are "polytheistic" in the classic sense, but because they direct various forms of worship to other than Almighty God. We will discuss the meaning of worship in Islam below, however, before moving on it should be noted that many non-Muslims are unaware of the distinction between simply believing in the existence of only One God and reserving all worship for Him alone. Many Christians are painfully unaware of this point, and thus you often find them asking how Muslims can accuse the followers of Jesus, peace be upon him, of being "polytheists" when they were all "monotheistic Jews". First of all, it should be clarified that the word "polytheist" doesn't really sound right in this context, since to many it implies simply believing in the existence of more than one God. So in an Islamic context, "associators", "man-worshippers" or "creature worshippers" might be more accurate and appropriate terms - especially since Christians believe Jesus to be both "100% God and 100% man", while still paying lip-service to God's "Oneness". However, as we're previously touched upon, what is really at the root of this problem is the fact that Christians - as well as the members of other religions - don't really know what "monotheism" means - especially in the Islamic sense. All of the books, articles and papers that I've read which were written by Christians invariably limit "monotheism" to believing in the existence of "One Sovereign and Creator God". Islam, however, teaches much more than this. Suffice it to say that just because someone claims to be a "monotheistic" Jew, Christian or Muslim, that doesn't keep them from falling into corrupt beliefs and idolatrous practices. Many people, including some Muslims, claim belief in "One God" even though they've fallen into acts of idolatry. Certainly, many Protestants accuse Roman Catholics of idolatrous practices in regards to the saints and the Virgin Mary. Likewise, the Greek Orthodox Church is considered "idolatrous" by many other Christians because in much of their worship they use icons. However, if you ask a Roman Catholic or a Greek Orthodox person if God is "One", they will invariably answer: "Yes!". This lip-service, however, does not stop them from being "creature worshipping" idolaters. The same goes for Hindus, who just consider their gods to be "manifestations" or "incarnations" of the One Supreme God. Everyone should be aware of the fact that throughout the long history of the "Abrahamic Faiths", there have people who, while believing in "One God", have adopted beliefs and practices that completely nullify their claim to "monotheism". This is the Muslim view of Christians. We're well aware of the fact that they claim belief in "One God" with their lips, but this doesn't mean that they don't nullify their claim in other ways. This is because many people simply haven't been taught everything that Pure Monotheism entails. From an Islamic point of view, "monotheism" can be nullified in many ways. For example, simply believing that it is permissible to rule by Western "liberal" and "democratic" laws in lieu of the Divinely Revealed Law of Almighty God makes one a "polytheist". Certainly, a person who does such a thing, whether Jewish, Christian or Muslim, doesn't ever believe that there is another Almighty Creator and Sovereign Lord. However, for all practical purposes, such a person has take another "god", whether they choose to admit it or not. In this way they are associating partners with Almighty God (Arabic: shirk), and thus become a "polytheist" in a practical sense, regardless of their lip-service to "monotheism". This holds true even if the person doesn't believe what they are doing is "worship". For example, Roman Catholics who pray to the Virgin Mary will staunchly deny that they are "worshipping" her. They instead call it "adoration" or some other watered-down term. However, from an Islamic point of view, what is worship if not this? Islam teaches that prayer and supplication are the marrow of worship, so if one directs their prayers to an intermediary (even if the pray is "ultimately" meant for God), then what is left of worship? Additionally, how can someone who believes in Almighty God follow man-made laws instead of God's Law, without admitting that they've begun worshipping other than God? Do they know better than God? Additionally, the Old Testament makes it perfectly clear that making a "graven image" of any created thing (not to mention ones which are supposed to "represent" Almighty God) is prohibited. Please see Exodus 20:4-6, Leviticus 26:1 and Deuteronomy 4:16, 23, 25, 5:8 and Nehemiah 9:6 for some statements in regards to this point. Without addressing the issue that Christians commonly violate the unambiguous commandment not to even "make" representations of anything that is in the "heavens above or on the earth beneath", these verses not only teach that worshipping idols is prohibited, but also that Almighty God is eternally distinct from His creation and thus nothing in His creation can represent Him. To believe otherwise is to be a de facto idol worshipper - even if one claims belief in one, and only one, "True God". In Exodus 20:4-6 and Deuteronomy 4:16, Almighty God - who is a "Jealous God" - makes it perfectly clear that He is distinct from His creation. By giving such clear and merciful guidance to human beings, God is establishing a universal and eternal Truth for the benefit of mankind. This eternal Truth is the bedrock of religious guidance, since once people begin to believe that Almighty God mixes with or can be represented by His creation, they can be duped into believing almost anything. Once someone accepts that God has become "incarnate" in His creation, or that someone or something is a "manifestation" - and thus representation - of Him, the floodgates are open and "Truth" becomes a matter of subjective guesswork. Once the first and most basic concept is violated - regardless of how complicated and sophisticated the rationale for it might be - it is very easy to fall further and further away from the Eternal Truth of Pure Monotheism. In the final analysis, it is not a question of whether God is capable of becoming a man, but rather a question of whether one bases their beliefs about God on clear, unambiguous and authentic guidance. Once it is left up to the human mind to decide what Almighty God can and cannot do, the stage is set for misguidance to take root. Human speculation about God only ends up leading to misguidance and despair, since no clear conclusions can ever be reached. For example, is God capable of creating an object so heavy that He is incapable of moving it? If not, does that mean that He is incapable? It is because of misguided questions like this that Islam clearly teaches that mankind should only say about God what He has said about Himself. This means all of our ideas about God must be based on Revelation - not human speculation. In short, the final prophet of Islam - Muhammad - was sent by Almighty God to preach the same Pure Monotheism that was practiced by Noah, Abraham, Moses, David and Jesus - peace be upon them all. This Pure Monotheism means not only believing that there is only One God in existence, but realizing that He is transcedent above His creation and that all worship is due to Him alone. Before concluding, we should probably address the practice of those Muslims who insist on using the Arabic word "Allah" even when speaking English. Even though this practice certainly is not to be condemned when it is done around those who understand the meaning of the Arabic word "Allah", it is my experience - both during my years as a non-Muslim and my years as a Muslim - that such a practice can (and usually does) breed misunderstanding. It seems that often times, many of the Muslims who use the word "Allah" in lieu of the word "God", even when trying to attract people to Islam, are unaware of the severe misunderstandings that many non-Muslims have about Islam (and the distorted way which Islam has been portrayed in the West). Insisting on using the word "Allah" only fuels the flames of misunderstanding - so there's no good reason to do it. I've often wondered what value some Muslims think that using the word "Allah" adds to the Pure Message that they are trying to convey. ( . . . and I'm still waiting for an answer!) Unfortunately, those Muslims who insist on using the word "Allah" even when addressing non-Muslims who are unfamiliar with Islam and the Arabic language, do both a disservice to themselves and their religion. Unfortunately, this practice is usually based on the false assumption - by a non-native speaker of English - that the word "God" in English is incapable of expressing a pure and proper belief in Almighty God. This is certainly false. If someone says that the English word "God" cannot be used to express the Pure Islamic Belief in Tawhid, they are wrong not because they don't understand Tawhid, but simply because they don't understand the English language. Many people who insist on using the Arabic word "Allah" usually don't realize this, because in reality, they are not so much affirming the word "Allah" as they are rejecting the word "God" as unsuitable - based on incorrect assumptions. For someone to assume that the word "God" presupposes a certain theological point-of-view (such as the Trinity) is simply Wrong - and that's Wrong with a capital "W". To say the word "God" should be rejected because it can be changed into "god", "gods" or "goddess" is illogical because each of these words has a distinctive meaning and a distinctive spelling - at least to someone who knows how to speak English correctly. Using the same logic, I can demonstrate that the root letters "ktb" can be used to form the Arabic words "kitab" (book), "maktabah" (library), "maktab" (office) and "kaatib" (writer), but does that mean that these words have the same meaning? Do Arabic-speaking people go through life confusing libraries with writers and offices with books (both in conversation and in reality)? I think not! This is not to mention the fact that if the Arabic "Al-" was put in front of these words in order to make them definite, confusion would be even less likely! So the logic in both cases is the same, and this is because even though the same letters are used in "God" and "god", these two words have two different meanings in the English language. The capital "G" implies something different than the small "g" - and anyone who denies this simply doesn't know how to speak the English language. In concluding this point, it should be mentioned that Arabic-speaking Muslims who believe in Pure Tawhid, Arabic-speaking Christians, the idol worshippers of Mecca and (so-called) Muslims who believe in "Wahdat al-Wujud" all use the word "Allah". However, does this guarantee all of them proper belief in "Allah"? Certainly not, because if they have a corrupt concept of "Allah" it doesn't matter what word they use! This brings us to a more important point: It should be clearly understood that what Islam is primarily concerned with is correcting mankind's concept of Almighty God. What we are ultimately going to be held accountable at the end of our life is not whether we prefer the word "Allah" over the word "God", but what our concept of God is. Language is only a side issue. A person can have an incorrect concept of God while using the word "Allah", and likewise a person can have a correct concept of God while using the word "God". This is because both of these words are equally capable of being misused and being improperly defined. As we've already mentioned, using the word "Allah" no more insinuates belief in the Unity of God than the use of the word "God" insinuates belief in the Trinity - or any other theological opinion. Naturally, when God sends a revelation to mankind through a prophet, He is going to send it in a language that the people who receive it can understand and relate to. Almighty God makes this clear in the Qur'an, when He states: "Never did We send a Messenger except (to teach) in the language of his (own) people in order to make (things) clear to them." (Qur'an, Chapter 14 - "Abraham", Verse 4) As Muslims, we think that it is unfortunate that we have to go into details on such seemingly minor issues, but so many falsehoods have been heaped upon our religion, that we feel that it is our duty to try to break down the barriers of falsehood. This isn't always easy, since there is a lot of anti-Islamic literature in existence which tries to make Islam look like something strange and foreign to Westerners. There are some people out there, who are obviously not on the side of truth, that want to get people to believe that "Allah" is just some Arabian "god", and that Islam is completely "other" - meaning that it has no common roots with the other Abrahamic religions (i.e. Christianity and Judaism). To say that Muslims worship a different "God" because they say "Allah" is just as illogical as saying that French people worship another God because they use the word "Dieu", that Spanish-speaking people worship a different God because they say "Dios" or that the Hebrews worshipped a different God because they sometimes call Him "Yahweh". Certainly, reasoning like this is quite ridiculous! It should also be mentioned, that claiming that any one language uses the only the correct word for God is tantamount to denying the universality of God's message to mankind, which was to all nations, tribes and people through various prophets who spoke different languages. Before closing, we would like everyone to be aware of the fact that some Christian missionary organizations print English literature intended to teach Christians about Islam which say such things as: "Allah is the god of the Muslims" and that "Muhammad came to get people to believe in the god Allah" - implying that "Allah" is some sort of false "god". However, when these same organizations print literature in the Arabic language, hoping to lead Arabic-speaking Muslims "to Christ", they use the word "Allah" for God. It seems that if they were on the side of truth, they would not have to resort to such inconsistencies. And on an even more ridiculous note . . . there are also missionary organizations that exceed this in ignorance (or deceit) by writing books that call on Muslims to give up their belief in "Allah", and instead worship the "Lord" Jesus, "the Son of God". Besides making it abundantly clear that they are outside the community of Pure Monotheism, the people who write such material don't even realize that if they wrote such a pamphlet in Arabic, it would be self-contradictory. This is because in an Arabic Bible Jesus is the "Son of Allah"! If an Arabic-speaking person gave up the worship of "Allah", they would have no God to worship, since "Allah" is simply the Arabic word for God! Before we conclude, however, we would like to ask our readers to ask themselves what they think the reasons are behind all of these lies? If Islam was just some false religion that didn't make any sense, would so many people, from Western scholars to Christian missionaries, have to tell so many lies about it? The reason is that the Ultimate Truth of Islam stands on solid ground and its unshakable belief in the Unity of God is above reproach. Due to this, Christians can't criticize its doctrines directly, but instead make up things about Islam that aren't true so that people lose the desire to learn more. If Muslims were able to present Islam in the proper way to people in the West, it surely might make many people reconsider and re-evaluate their own beliefs. It is quite likely that Christians, when they find out that there is a universal religion in the world that teaches people to worship and love God, while also practicing Pure Monotheism, would at least feel that they should re-examine the basis for their own beliefs and doctrines.

Vista recovery problem? I have been trying to restore my computer to the original factory settings by recovering from the partition of my hard disk using PC Angel. However, it seems to get to a stage where Vista has been installed and boots up but then just hangs at a white screen with the Microsoft Vista logo and a box with a computer icon and a magnifying glass as if it is searching for a file. I have let this run for over 12 hours and it doesn't seem to be responding. It is also impossible to get to the Vista desktop even though I know it is running in the background. Any suggestions how to fix this?

Am I emo? (Please read details)? Most of my friends call me goth (and I have to admit I do sound goth) but there are some people at school who call me emo. Do I sound emo or am I goth like others and myself say? I like to dress in black because it is easy and does not require much colour co-ordination plus I think it looks good on me. When it comes to accessories I have a strange fixation with skulls, coffins and religious symbols like ankhs, crosses and pentacles. My favourite music is a mixture of goth rock (e.g. The Cure, Type O Negative, Jack Off Jill, 69 Eyes), punk rock (e.g. Anti-flag, SexPistols), Industrial (e.g. Marilyn Manson, DRC, Dope Stars Inc), Eurodance (e.g. Cascada, Aqua, DJ Bobo), Darkwave (e.g. Cruxshadows, BlutEngel, Stillste Stund), screamo (e.g. Greeley Estates, FFTL) and metal (e.g. Wednesday 13, Morbid Angel). When it comes to reading I like vampire novels (Anne Rice, Bram Stoker, LJ Smith, etc.), fantasy/sci fi /horror novels, classic literature and some popular titles like Eragon, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Harry Potter and Twilight. My hobbies include reading, writing stories and verses, watching horror films, listening to music, studying things like philosophy ancient history and mythology, surfing the net for occult/monster sites as well as normal sites, anime, manga + drawing. Other things I like are night skies, gargoyles, cute things (like Pokemon/Skelanimals/Sanrio characters/shoujo manga), ghost stories, graveyards and graveyard photos, Victorian style architecture, surreal paintings or paintings of religious icons, cats, vampires, silver jewelery, etc. At school I'm a straight A student in everything except PE but I'm always bored because the work's way too easy so I just draw or write in class. Generally I'm a very cheery person though I'm known for being quiet and introspective and often rather cynical. I'm not depressed though I may have a down moment and don't cut or think of suicide. Can you tell me what is your opinion on this as a believer? The way of truth is a long way, it is a long journey then back again. How could we know the end if we ignore the beginning!. Humans can not be more merciful than the he who created all things. As long as there would be just one human incapable of delivering or allowing a curse on Earth, man, animal, or even angel. Then he would be more merciful than god according to many scriptures. So the fruit of deceive was delivered by the same scripture writers. The creator is above all systems. The physical system and the system of belief. Have you even been under the feeling: I know I didn't do it but they still think I did it and that I hate them. In such a fashion was the idea of god and devil, "good and evil" (god and eve) delivered. The idols are only a little part of the whole thing. Why would the creator allow for a curse, when no many men are capable of such. And if there is no curse then we are still in innovation. So there was not need for a savior, specially for those who were out of that faith, but since they are also mortal still the knew they would tend to believe and submit themselves to the jewish related faith. So good men are killed then used as icons, Many scriptures were written in time of Jesus and John, but if a loving Father would not allow for a curse on his kids, then we are not saved by sacrifice, no even of Jesus, because any conscious man sacrifice is an abomination, moreover to the great Father. Was he sacrificed, or not? it does not matter, the story still allowed for the jewish faith to be center of talks, wars, controversies, and at the same time of power to the originators. Whether written by deceive or by warning, it has been used in that form: "Do not think that I came here to bring peace, but grieve and war". And "The son of man (Product of man's expectancy) goes according to the scriptures but.....etc." There is the the scripture disapproved. And Jesus as God in flesh since he would be submitting himself to to men to fulfill what they wrote. Today some even perform eating rituals in their beliefs eating and drinking the blood of Jesus, which would be not only sacrificial abomination but also a form of cannibalism. Not judging by scriptures but by a simple human point of view. So perhaps we are going more and more away from the Creator trough the scriptures which provides even for an end to this beautiful world. The power of the shepherd lies in delivering multiple magic hooks or fantasies to the sheep. (There are those who think they are not sheep but they, are in one way or another inside the corral or matrix). Religion is one, Ideologies, Monetary system is one, Political redundancy. Control of social interactions, Wars, Union and dissolution, Secret societies and change of governments. There are some who do not preach, but they are out to social programming, and that is, even their own people. Sacrificed as sheep in to a collective mind-created monster, accusing the benevolent creator of cursing, and of supporting animal and human sacrifice.

Today really isn't the best day for celebrities, is it? This is a thoroughly depressing day -- A Charlie's Angel and the King of Pop both died today. I don't know about you, but today just doesn't seem that great. I'm sad at the loss of both great pop culture icons, but I suppose MJ's death came as a heavier surprise. Sure, he was a little off his rocker, but you can't exactly deny that he made a huge impression in Pop music, and this death really wasn't expected. Farrah, on the other hand, has had cancer for a while now. Not that that makes the death easier to take, but we knew she'd pass sometime soon. BUT, (and you knew there was a 'but'), I do have a couple questions for you teens here tonight (or today, depending on where you are in the world), if you don't mind. (And if you do mind... well... well... SHUT UP THEN! Just kidding :D) Anywho, onto the actual questions: 1. Whose death did you feel more sad at hearing about? Farrah Fawcett's, or Michael Jackson's? 2. They say bad things (or good things, but I'll say bad things) always come in threes, so excluding the death of Ed McMahon, who do you think will die next? (Wow, THAT's a depressing question.) Monstrar: I know! People have the harshest feelings when someone dies. I mean, yeah, MJ molested kids, and that's CERTAINLY not a good thing -- But he still had friends, and family! He was still a father! He was still highly respected as a musician! He still had millions of fans! Why people aren't mourning his death is a mystery and a shock to me. By the way, I know questions like this have been asked a LOT lately -- Just wanted to throw my two cents in.

Constantine the Great—A Champion of Christianity? Religion in Constantine’s Strategy With reference to the general attitude that Roman emperors of the third and fourth centuries had toward religion, the book Istoria tou Ellinikou Ethnous (History of the Greek Nation) says: “Even when those who occupied the imperial throne did not have such profoundly religious dispositions, surrendering to the mood of the era, they found it necessary to give religion precedence within the framework of their political schemes, to lend at least a religious flavor to their actions.” Certainly, Constantine was a man of his era. At the beginning of his career, he needed some “divine” patronage, and this could not be provided by the fading Roman gods. The empire, including its religion and other institutions, was in decline, and something new and invigorating was needed to reconsolidate it. The encyclopedia Hidria says: “Constantine was especially interested in Christianity because it backed up not only his victory but also the reorganization of his empire. The Christian churches that existed everywhere became his political support. . . . He surrounded himself with the great prelates of the times . . . , and he requested that they keep their unity intact.” Constantine sensed that the “Christian” religion—albeit apostate and deeply corrupted by then—could be effectively utilized as a revitalizing and uniting force to serve his grand scheme for imperial domination. Adopting the foundations of apostate Christianity to gain support in furthering his own political ends, he decided to unify the people under one “catholic,” or universal, religion. Pagan customs and celebrations were given “Christian” names. And “Christian” clergymen were given the status, salary, and influential clout of pagan priests. Seeking religious harmony for political reasons, Constantine quickly crushed any dissenting voices, not on the grounds of doctrinal truth, but on the basis of majority acceptance. The profound dogmatic differences within the badly divided “Christian” church gave him the opportunity to intervene as a “God-sent” mediator. Through his dealings with the Donatists in North Africa and the followers of Arius in the eastern portion of the empire, he quickly discovered that persuasion was not enough to forge a solid, unified faith. It was in an attempt to resolve the Arian controversy that he convened the first ecumenical council in the history of the church.—See box “Constantine and the Council of Nicaea.” Concerning Constantine, historian Paul Johnson states: “One of his main reasons for tolerating Christianity may have been that it gave himself and the State the opportunity to control the Church’s policy on orthodoxy and the treatment of heterodoxy.” Did He Ever Become a Christian? Johnson notes: “Constantine never abandoned sun-worship and kept the sun on his coins.” The Catholic Encyclopedia observes: “Constantine showed equal favour to both religions. As pontifex maximus he watched over the heathen worship and protected its rights.” “Constantine never became a Christian,” states the encyclopedia Hidria, adding: “Eusebius of Caesarea, who wrote his biography, says that he became a Christian in the last moments of his life. This doesn’t hold water, as the day before, [Constantine] had made a sacrifice to Zeus because he also had the title Pontifex Maximus.” Down to the day of his death in 337 C.E., Constantine bore the pagan title of Pontifex Maximus, the supreme head of religious matters. Regarding his baptism, it is reasonable to ask, Was it preceded by genuine repentance and a turning around, as required in the Scriptures? (Acts 2:38, 40, 41) Was it a complete water immersion as a symbol of Constantine’s dedication to Jehovah God?—Compare Acts 8:36-39. A “Saint”? The Encyclopædia Britannica states: “Constantine was entitled to be called Great in virtue rather of what he did than what he was. Tested by character, indeed, he stands among the lowest of all those to whom the epithet [Great] has in ancient or modern times been applied.” And the book A History of Christianity informs us: “There were early reports of his violent temper and his cruelty in anger. . . . He had no respect for human life . . . His private life became monstrous as he aged.” Evidently Constantine had serious personality problems. A history researcher states that “his temperamental character was often the reason for his committing crimes.” (See the box “Dynastic Murders.”) Constantine was not “a Christian character,” contends historian H. Fisher in his History of Europe. The facts do not characterize him as a true Christian who had put on “the new personality” and in whom there could be found the fruitage of God’s holy spirit—love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness, and self-control.—Colossians 3:9, 10; Galatians 5:22, 23. The Consequences of His Efforts As the pagan Pontifex Maximus—and therefore the religious head of the Roman Empire—Constantine tried to win over the bishops of the apostate church. He offered them positions of power, prominence, and wealth as officers of the Roman State religion. The Catholic Encyclopedia admits: “Some bishops, blinded by the splendour of the court, even went so far as to laud the emperor as an angel of God, as a sacred being, and to prophesy that he would, like the Son of God, reign in heaven.” As apostate Christianity came into favor with the political government, it became more and more a part of this world, of this secular system, and drifted away from the teachings of Jesus Christ. (John 15:19; 17:14, 16; Revelation 17:1, 2) As a result, there was a fusion of “Christianity” with false doctrines and practices—the Trinity, immortality of the soul, hellfire, purgatory, prayers for the dead, use of rosaries, icons, images, and the like.—Compare 2 Corinthians 6:14-18. From Constantine, the church also inherited the tendency to be authoritarian. Scholars Henderson and Buck say: “The simplicity of the Gospel was corrupted, pompous rites and ceremonies were introduced, worldly honours and emoluments were conferred on the teachers of Christianity, and the Kingdom of Christ in good measure converted into a kingdom of this world.” Where Is True Christianity? Historical facts reveal the truth behind the “greatness” of Constantine. Instead of being founded by Jesus Christ, the Head of the true Christian congregation, Christendom is partly the result of the political expediency and the crafty maneuvers of a pagan emperor. Very aptly, historian Paul Johnson asks: “Did the empire surrender to Christianity, or did Christianity prostitute itself to the empire?” All those who really want to adhere to pure Christianity can be helped to recognize and associate with the true Christian congregation today. Jehovah’s Witnesses worldwide are more than willing to help honesthearted people to identify true Christianity and to worship God in the way acceptable to him.—John 4:23, 24.

Why i saw mother perpetual help? is there any meaning about it? if you are not catholic, pls. don't answer or leave any comments, because i know that you gonna write a stupid comments. In my opinion, i don't wanna change my believe at all, because of what i got the proof from above. I am sure no body will believe me even though my parents can't believe what I've seen on the sky next to the sun i think when i was 3 years old. I know you would think i am crazy but i am telling the truth (people) why i saw her.. she is a mother perpetual help, she was carrying a baby with crown on her head, 2 babies on her shoulder with wings on their back..we called angels right? 2 angels brought a cross. i forgot the name, but i read that from the book the 2 angels have the name. i was planning to go ask the priest about that but i don't think they believe me. i wanted that someone can answer me about that, but i don't know who could give a right comments or answer about that. until now, i am looking forward to see her again, but it is impossible i think that she will show up again, because i know for sure i am a sinner lot more than when i was a baby.it is always bothering me. last 3 or 4 months ago i prayed, i said, i wish i would see her again next to the sun and give me an idea why she let me see her, or even just on my dream.. and i did see her on my dream, after 3 days ago i prayed but i didn't get any idea, her picture spinning on the sky and the picture was color crystal, but the first time i saw her next to the sun it is color blue like on this picture.. here is the link. it is almost the same on this link http://www.heavenlyart.net/Icons/lady_perpetual_help.jpg .
