What do different religions think of angels?

Can anyone give me different religions views of angels? What do they think they look like? Do they believe in them? Do they believe they are messengers of God?

  1. Christians believe Humans are greater than Angels because Angels only have the ability to freely choose to always do good, while humans have the ability to freely choose a moral position. Humans have true freedom, angels don't.
  2. Angels definitely exist; they aren't simply good people, and they are greater than we are. The Bible says, "What is man that you are mindful of him? ... You made him a little lower than the angels" (Hebrews 2:6-7). Angels are a separate category of spiritual beings, created by God as His special messengers or helpers. They have many responsibilities, but one of their major tasks is to watch over God's people: "Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?" (Hebrews 1:14). Although they seldom take visible form, they are constantly involved in the ongoing conflict between good and evil. In the last days, Jesus said, "The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous" (Matthew 13:49). While the Bible doesn't give us details about their origin, it seems that angels existed before the world was created, and through all eternity they will continue to serve and praise God. We are not to worship them, however, for only God is worthy of our worship (see Revelation 22:8-9). Thank God for His angels, and for their watchful care over us; they are a sign of God's continuing love. But the greatest sign of God's love is Christ, for He alone went to the cross for our salvation. Is your hope in Him?
  3. another thing made up by the catholic church.just like the pope who can communicate with god.lol.purgatory lol praying for mary was never asked for by god and never even got a further mention after the birth, she was only a vessel.all these add on are just to give power to the vatican and to take it away from god. sounds a bit hypocritical to me
  4. Angels also had a choice, some of them are now helpers of Satan. They were hurled right along with him. I think you should listen to answer number two.
  5. Angels in Islam: Angels are creatures of God. they were created of light. their main mission is to obey God. for example, there is Angel Gabriel who brought Allah’s words to the Prophet Muhammad. there is the angel of death (responsile for taking souls off bodies.) the angel of wind, the angel of rain.
  6. Islam yes we believe in them. there is an angel of death, angels who count or deeds, they are beautiful creations of Allah. they are made from light. The Noble Qur'an 86:4 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) The Noble Qur'an Ar-Ra'd 13:11 For each (person), there are angels in succession, before and behind him.[] They guard him by the Command of Allâh. Verily! Allâh will not change the good condition of a people as long as they do not change their state of goodness themselves (by committing sins and by being ungrateful and disobedient to Allâh). But when Allâh wills a people's punishment, there can be no turning back of it, and they will find besides Him no protector.
  7. That would be an ecumenical matter.
  8. Angels are not tied to any religious groups. They belong to people of all religious beliefs and those with no beliefs at all. The hebrews see angels as beings of love and grace and the Jews recorded vast texts in the old testament about how the angels helped them in their battle for freedom. The Archangel Gabriel dictated the Koran to Mohammed. Angels names and roles vary from religion to religion although nearly all traditions show angel-like beings or beings of light evenif they do not actually call them angels. Most religions see angels as messengers and servants of God and beings that work in his name. Some religions represent angels as protectors but others such as Judeo-Christian tradition see angels more as spiritual beings that help you work through your problems rather than taking them away, following the idea of humans being born with free will and being sent to earth to learn lessons. In the Garden of Gethsemane angels appeared to Jesus to give him the strength he needed to endure his death rather than to save him from death. Angels in Buddishm Dharmapalas and Dharma are seen as beings of protection Christianity-catholicism Archangel Gabriel,Archangel Michael and Archangel raphael are seen as a direct link with God and the messengers and servants of the divine Christianity-Orthodox The most important are Archangels Michael,Gabreil,Raphael,Uriel,Selaphiel,Jedudiel,Baracheil and Jeremiel Satan is recognised as a fallen angel Christianity-Protestant Biblical angels are prominent good and bad angels are recognised Hinduism No individual angels but spirits who act in a similar way thedivas or the shining ones who work on the higher planes and asuras evil spirits Lipika regulates karma and angiris who looks over sacrifices Islam Archangel Jabra'il (Gabriel and other variant spellings) who revealed the Koran to Mohammed Also Mika (Michael) Izrafil, Izra'il Munkar and Nakir. Shaitan the evil one a member of the Jinn rather than an actual angel Judaism Archangel Michael is a guardian of the people of Israel also important are Ureil,Gabriel and Raphael Mormonism Founder of mormonism Joseph Smith was visited by the angel Moroni I hope this is of help to in understanding how diffrent religions see Angels
